OSRS F2P And P2P Skills

With several options to choose from, OSRS players often have questions in their minds like “What does Agility even do?”. Luckily, we’re here to answer those questions for you. In the following guide, we have given a short brief about all 23 skills available in OSRS. Let’s have a look!

Attack

Attack determines your accuracy in combat when using a weapon. It indicates whether or not you’re going to miss the hit. Leveling up attack allows you to equip higher-tier weapons, which also increases your damage. However, it plays no role in dictating the amount of damage you’re about to cause to the enemy.

Strength

Strength determines the damage you’re going to cause to your opponent. The maximum hit value increases through strength, which is faster for attack weapons to keep up. That’s primarily why players train their Strength about 1.3 higher than attack.

Defense

Defense doesn’t determine the amount of damage received, but rather it increases the chances of the enemy’s attacks missing. Defense is also responsible for your Magic resistance. The higher level you are, the better armor you can equip.

Ranged

Ranged determines your Ranged Strength, Accuracy, and Defense. It’s a unique skill trained because of the wide benefits it offers during combat. Pay-to-play players have access to many powerful Ranged weapons, while it’s limited for F2P players.

Magic

Regardless of how useful Magic is in combat, it is trained for its wide range of benefits. For instance, teleportation, enchantment, alchemy, and so forth. According to the combat triangle, Magic is weak against Ranged but strong against Melee, but that has changed because Magic users have started to best even Ranged opponents.

HP

HP determines your character’s health. You gain experience in HP as your damage an opponent or receive it. You can basically forget about this skill as it trains itself as you’re leveling up the other combat skills. However, there are times when Pure PVP accounts tend to keep it low for an unnecessary increase in combat levels.

Prayer

Prayer is one of the hardest skills to train because it requires a lot of OSRS Gold and effort to bury or offer bones at altars. But having a high prayer level offers invaluable bonuses during combat. There are protection prayers and prayers that help increase your damage rates.

Crafting

Crafting is quite time-consuming to train if you’re not a member of the game. It allows you to craft armor, pieces of jewelry, cooking wares, and so forth. Popular items that are gained from crafting are the Dragonhide Armors, which again, can only be crafted by members. You can even make Magic Staves through it.

Rune Crafting

You can start training Rune Crafting by completing the Rune Mysteries quest. But hey, the grind is troublesome as the skill is extremely slow to train. Rune Crafting allows you to craft various runes from essences at their respective altars. While it’s slow to train, it can be quite beneficial in terms of profit.

Mining

Considered a part of the “OSRS Money Making Skills” category, Mining is slow but quite profitable. It’s the process of mining ores from various rocks in mines. There are several players who use bots to train this skill, but we recommend that you don’t avoid getting banned. The most profitable ore in the game is Runite Ore which required level 85 Mining to mine.

Smithing

With the ores gained from mining, you can use them to train Smithing. It’s the process of smelting ores into metal bars, and then hammering them down into useful equipment. You can make Gold Bars by smelting gold ore and Silver Bars by smelting silver ore, which again are obtained through mining.

Woodcutting

Another classic money-making skill is Woodcutting, where you pretty much grab a hatchet and start chopping down trees. It’s the very first task you do at the tutorial island as a beginner of the game. The trees that you’re allowed to chop depend on whether you’re a member or not.

Fire Making

With logs obtained from Woodcutting, you can burn them using a Tinderbox to train your Fire Making. The skill has no real benefits, and I’m not even sure why it’s there in the game; however, the skill cape is pretty cool. Many players train it for the Pyromancer Outfit too.

Fishing

Fishing is the method of acquiring large amounts of raw food. You have to use nets and poles at fishing-specific locations to catch them. As you level up, you’ll be introduced to lobster pots and harpoons to catch higher-tier fish. Catching sharks is quite a popular Runescape Gold Making method in the game.

Cooking

With the raw fish you catch through Fishing, you can train your Cooking. You can do it anywhere by burning a few logs and starting a fire. Cooking turns raw food into edibles, which can heal your HP during combat scenarios. Apart from fish, you can also make cakes, pizzas, ales, etc.

Agility

Agility allows you to use various shortcuts in the game, thus cutting the time to reach your desired location. Training will grant you access to various locations which are only accessible through it. You can train the skill by heading over to different Agility courses in the game.

Herblore

Herblore is the art of mixing ingredients to create potions that provide various benefits in both skilling and combat. You have to clean herbs and add them to vials of water, along with a secondary ingredient to create potions. It’s quite a profitable skill at higher levels.

Thieving

Thieving is pretty much self-explanatory. You have to pickpocket various NPCs across the game. A higher level determines your chances of not being caught; however, if you do, you’ll either be knocked out or attacked by the NPC you’re stealing from. You can also train the skills through minigames.

Fletching

Fletching is the process of making bows and arrows. You are required to have a Knife, Logs, and Arrowheads to make arrows. To make a bow, you’ll need the same but replace Arrowheads with Bowstrings. It can be quite profitable if you have a high Woodcutting level to get your own logs and a high Magic level to use the Alchemy spell.

Slayer

Slayer is a popular way to train your combat skills, including Attack, Strength, Defense, Magic, and Ranged. You’ll first need a Slayer assignment from a master, and then depending on the task, you need to head out and kill monsters. Slayer can be quite profitable because of the drops you receive.

Farming

Farming is also self-explanatory. It’s the process of planting seeds in farming patches, and then later harvesting the fully grown plants. While it is also profitable, the items you use are necessary ingredients to make potions and train your Herblore skill.

Construction

Construction can be very expensive to train because you need supplies to build various rooms, furniture, etc., in your POH. Players often train this skill to show off their achievements and architecture. You can also use it to your advantage by creating Portal Rooms, Dungeons, and so forth.

Hunter

Hunter is a skill where you have to hunt down various animals scattered across the game. You may back off from training it because of the slow early levels, but we assure you that it can be very profitable. The animals you hunt can also be used for combat, for instance, players use Red or Black chins to train their Ranged.
